Here is my review of the new foundation from NARS – Velvet Matte Foundation Stick!
While browsing at my local Sephora a few days ago, I was excited to see they had just stocked their shelves with the newest foundation from NARS. I had read about the impending launch of the Velvet Matte Foundation Stick, and as a huge fan of the NARS brand, this product was on my radar. The foundation comes packaged as a dual sided stick. One side houses the acutal foundation, and the other side is advertised as a “touch-up blender”, which is essentially a dense sponge.
I still had a Sephora gift card left over from my birthday, so I was happy to take this new product home. I've tested it out for a few days now, and I'm definitely a fan! I love the convenience and ease of use of stick foundations. They are great for busy mornings and travel. I just swipe it on and then blend out with a brush. I've used my fingers to blend, as well, and have been happy with the result. I've found that some stick foundations are difficult to blend, but not this one. The Sephora website describes this foundation as medium coverage, matte finish, and suitable for all skin types. On my combination skin, the finish leans more toward satin, which I usually prefer anyway. The foundation is .31 oz. and costs $45. It comes in an amazing range of 20 shades. If you are familiar with the NARS Sheer Glow Foundation, you'll notice the shade names are identical. I purchased Fiji, which is the same shade I wear in the Sheer Glow.
In the photo below, the only face products I'm wearing are the Velvet Matte Foundation stick and NARS blush in Torrid.
I hope you found this review helpful, and if you are looking for a new foundation to try, I definitely recommend the Velvet Matte Stick from NARS!
