  • 5 oz. whipped cream cheese (a little more than half of an 8 oz. container)
  • homemade cocktail sauce (1/3 cup ketchup, 2 tsp prepared horseradish, 1/4 tsp black pepper)
  • 1 can tiny shrimp (drain, rinse, and pat dry)
  • 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese (shredded from a block if possible)
  1. To start, make the cocktail sauce.  Combine the ketchup, horseradish, and black pepper in a small bowl and set aside.

  2. On a plate or small serving dish, spread the cream cheese in an even layer.

  3. Spoon the homemade cocktail sauce over the cream cheese, again smoothing out into a nice even layer.

  4. Spread the shrimp on top of the cocktail sauce to make the third layer.

  5. Finally, top with the shredded cheese.  Shred your own from a block if possible!

  6. Serve with your favorite crackers or tortilla chips.
